![]() | FreeRadius Accounting for OpenVPN - success!! Never got time doing this, but now I finally got the radius accounting working on the box! Luckily the radius plugin for OpenVPN do support accounting. My TomatoVPN router, however, do not support radius accounting. Doing all these things is not that hard on standard linux platform. But doing these on an optware NAS box is tough! (Because google always return nothing about having these thing running on Synology box) Next thing to do.... maybe chillispot? :D | Nov 26 |

![]() | Paranoid about security: Install MOTP and integrate with FreeRadius I already have openldap as user store, why bother creating another set of OTP account with freeradius? Firstly ppl in my house hate OTP and want to instantly join the wifi network like the old psk way. Secondly, it is better to use OTP account to login back to home network in public place like using cafe wifi. Thirdly it is great to provide OTP account instead of LDAP account for guest. Combination of FreeRadius+OpenLDAP/MOTP works great for me. | Nov 14 |
![]() | Paranoid about security: Setup Wifi WPA2 Enterprise with Freeradius+Openldap Even though WPA2-Enterprise is still susceptible to man-in-the-middle attacks, but it should be better than the plain old PSK. Make sure your client do verify server's certificate and not connecting to the cracker's AP. Mobile phone usually don't do cert's validation things, soooo... block all mobile phone if you are paranoid enough. | Nov 13 |
![]() | Update: Modding series 21 - Install FreeRadius Server 1. The openssl provided by Synology will failed the eap/tls process. Should use the openssl provided by optware instead. Article is updated accordingly. 2. Added instructions to modify certificate configuration for CA, server and client. 3. Add Auth-Type: LDAP to users file is not necessary at all. | Nov 12 |

![]() | Missing 1613branch GPL source :( It is pity that Synology still did not release the GPL source for 1613 branch firmware. I really need to compile the ppp and slhc modules in order to have the pptpd server running on my NAS :( The latest branch available is 1594 and think the next release will be 1613?? but then... when?? | Jun 26 2011 03:23 |
![]() | Openvpn officially supported by Synology Synology finally released the openvpn packages for their NAS. However it is not available for 207 series. | Jun 10 2011 00:03 |
![]() | HUGH CHANGES Since synology announced that 1613 will be the final fw for my 207+, I decided to upgrade my DS from 2.2 to 3.1-1613!! Also, the storage of my 207+ is running out of storage space and I replaced the disk to a new WD 2TB drive (RE4). The subsequence of these action is that I need to setup ALL mod again on my 207+ box again!! What a pain! Luckily I've all the detail articles here and I managed to setup everything within a day. This proved that all my articles are compatible with fw 3.1-1613. | Jun 09 2011 01:21 |
